We’re excited to share that our Calala Battery EnergyStorage System (BESS) project has officially commenced construction.

We’re excited to share that our Calala Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project has officially commenced construction.

Located at 474 Calala Lane, just 5.8 km southeast of Tamworth’s town centre, the Calala BESS is set to become a key piece of energy infrastructure for New South Wales. Once complete, the large-scale battery facility will connect directly to the NSW electricity transmission grid, playing a vital role in supporting renewable energy integration and energy security.

Construction activity will begin with site access works to establish a sealed, formal driveway from Calala Lane. This will ensure safe and efficient vehicle access throughout the build. Major site works are scheduled to commence in early July 2025, with construction, testing, and commissioning expected to take approximately two years.

At Equis, we’re committed to open communication and community involvement throughout the life of the project. We invite local residents, suppliers, and community members to stay informed and get involved by visiting our project engagement hub: equis.engagementhub.com.au/calala-bess

Through the hub, you can:
