Last month, members of the Equis Team had the privilege of attending the Kinaway Sistas of Business International Women’s Day Lunch — an unforgettable afternoon celebrating the achievements, stories, and leadership of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women in business.
Hosted by the incredible Angela Burt and held at Zinc, Federation Square in Naarm (Melbourne) on March 8, the event brought together a vibrant community of First Nations women entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, and allies to honour this year’s IWD theme: Inspire Inclusion.
We were inspired by the powerful storytelling and panel conversations, led by Sara Stuart (Managing Director of Mob Jobs), Tory O’Brien(Director of TJS Accounting) and Nicole Appleton (Founder of NLA Trucking);that showcased the diversity and strength of Indigenous women in business. Hearing stories from groundbreaking Aboriginal Women who have overcome hardship, navigated financial challenges, and built inclusive businesses from the ground up was a highlight of a truly phenomenal day.
At Equis, we’re committed to walking alongside First Nations communities and supporting spaces where Indigenous voices are not only heard but amplified. This event was a powerful reminder of the importance of allyship, authentic relationships, and continuous learning.
Thank you to Kinaway Chamber of Commerce for hosting this memorable event; we feel honoured and excited to carry these conversations forward.
